THE FUNICULAR
After attending a symposium in Madrid, Martin Taylor's dream trip to Bilbao to see the famous Guggenheim Museum becomes a life-changing event. Whilst riding the funicular to the top of the mountain overlooking the city, the Victorian Police senior detective witnesses a shooting in the descending train as it passes. After reporting the incident to the local police, he is invited to assist them in tracking down the killer. But things get complicated when a major art work destined for the Guggenheim is stolen from a warehouse and the two crimes are found to be connected. So begins an adventure for our detective that takes him on an exciting journey to Russia, Brazil, Chile and, ultimately, back to Australia.

The Victorian detective, Martin Taylor, is called upon to assist the New York Police Department in recovering a collection of extremely valuable church items that have been stolen from a prestigious gallery where they had been on exhibition. This exciting adventure takes the reader on an armchair tour of New York, Southern Italy and finally Malta. Martin's relationship with the beautiful Spanish woman he met in Bilbao some time ago, has developed so strongly that it presents new problems for the couple.
